Little Learners will offer preschool screenings in Monmouth and Ocean County, NJ.
This is a quick tool that looks at a child's speech and language skills to determine if a full evaluation is warranted.
1:1 THERAPY SERVICES
Therapy sessions are play-based and built around your child’s interests, strengths, and individual needs. Using evidence-based strategies, we support the development of speech, language, feeding, and play skills in a warm, engaging environment. Progress is continually monitored and adjusted as needed, with ongoing parent collaboration and end-of-session updates. Therapy is designed to be fun, meaningful, and effective.
COMPREHENSIVE
EVALUATION
A comprehensive Little Learners speech-language evaluation provides meaningful insight into your child’s communication skills in a fun, supportive way. The evaluation includes a detailed case history, parent interview, oral motor examination, play-based observations, and informal and/or formal assessments. From there, we create a personalized, family-centered plan of care tailored to your child’s unique strengths and needs.
Areas of Treatment
Speech Sound Disorders
Articulation and phonological disorders make it hard for children to produce sounds clearly. When these challenges persist, speech therapy can help. We also support children with childhood apraxia of speech (CAS), a motor speech disorder that affects planning and coordinating the movements needed for clear speech. Therapy focuses on improving speech accuracy, consistency, and overall communication.
Augumentative and Alternative Communication
Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) includes tools and strategies—like speech-generating devices, gestures, and sign language—that help children express themselves when spoken language is limited or delayed. Little Learners supports all modes of communication, helping each child use the methods that work best for them. Our therapy encourages children to communicate their needs, ideas, and feelings confidently, whether through speech, AAC, or a combination of approaches.
Expressive & Receptive Language
Language disorders occur when a child has difficulty understanding spoken or written language (receptive language) and/or expressing ideas, thoughts, and feelings through spoken or written communication (expressive language). These challenges can affect both oral and written language. We also support late talkers, Gestalt Language Processors, children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, and those with pragmatic (social) language disorders.
Myofunctional Therapy
We provide myofunctional therapy to support the development of the oral and facial muscles that are essential for speech, feeding, and overall oral health. Therapy is personalized to address habits like thumb sucking, mouth breathing, and tongue placement, while promoting resting the tongue on the roof of the mouth, keeping the mouth closed, and encouraging nasal breathing. These strategies help improve communication, feeding skills, and healthy oral function.
Social Communication
Social communication refers to how children use language to interact and connect with others. Little Learners supports children with social communication challenges by providing therapy in natural environments such as the home, daycare, and school, helping them build meaningful communication skills where they are used most.
Parent Coaching
Parent coaching is also available to provide guidance, practical strategies, and reassurance as you support your child’s unique developmental journey. Through personalized coaching, we help families understand their child’s strengths and challenges, offering support for communication skills, feeding difficulties, and other developmental milestones. Our goal is to empower parents with the knowledge and confidence to foster growth at home, in school, and in everyday life, while providing ongoing encouragement every step of the way.
